Regina Inn Hotel and Conference Centre Friends in Need program contributes $2,500 to Canadian Red Cross
Regina Inn finishes year with successful annual fundraising drive
REGINA, SK (February 9, 2011) - Regina Inn’s 11th annual Friends in Need holiday promotion has raised $2,500 for the Canadian Red Cross to support disaster relief in Saskatchewan.
Running during the December holiday period, the annual Friends In Need promotion offered travelers discounted room rates at Regina Inn Hotel and Conference Centre, as well at more than 20 hotels across Canada, with $10 from each night’s stay going to local charities. This year, the company has surpassed their program goal of raising $1,000,000 in total donations. To ensure the goal was met, each hotel did additional fundraising activities such as jeans day, 50/50, BBQs, bottle drives, restaurant specials and much more. The Regina Inn also held live radio auctions of Jacuzzi Suite Romance Packages on two local Rawlco radio stations, and used the money the hotel would have spent on holiday gifts for special clients to make a donation to the campaign on our clients’ behalf.
The program was launched nationally in 2000 by SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts and runs at all hotels managed by the company. Hundreds of charitable and community organizations have benefited from the more than $1,000,000 raised over the past eleven years. Regina Inn will present the cheque to the Red Cross on February 10, 2011 at 2PM at the Red Cross’s office at 100-2050 Cornwall St.
“We extend our thanks to Silver Birch, the Regina Inn, and all the guests who checked in and supported Red Cross through the Friends in Need campaign,” says Cindy Fuchs, Provincial Director. “When disasters such as house fires strike right here in Regina, the $2,500 in funds raised through Friends in Need will be there to help Red Cross provide food, shelter and clothing to those individuals who could use a little help in a very difficult time.”
“The Regina Inn is thankful for the support of the community where we operate, and this is one way that we can give back,” says Kay Koot, General Manager of the Regina Inn Hotel and Conference Centre. “Our associates have embraced our Friends in Need program with enthusiasm, and have committed themselves to making it a success”.
Silver Birch Hotel’s Friends In Need program 2010
Check in for charity: 3 Saskatchewan Hotels to donate a portion of holiday bookings to Canadian Red Cross
Saskatoon & Regina, Saskatchewan December 1, 2010 – In the spirit of giving, the Regina Inn, Saskatoon Inn and the Radisson Hotel Saskatoon will donate a portion of their December 21 – 28th bookings to charity, while offering great rates, giving guests more reason than ever to check in this holiday season.
The donation is part of Silver Birch Hotels & Resorts’ Friends In Need program, an annual initiative held at the more than 20 hotels across Canada managed by SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts. Under the program, the hotels offer low holiday rates and donate $10 from each booking during the campaign to a special charity. The Regina Inn, Saskatoon Inn and Radisson Saskatoon have partnered with the Canadian Red Cross disaster response program as its Friends in Need recipient.
“This is the eleventh year of Friends in Need and we are thrilled to have partnered with the Canadian Red Cross for the seventh consecutive year. It’s such a worthwhile cause and we are looking forward to working with our guests to help them out this holiday season,” says Heather Hamilton, Regional Director of Sales and Marketing, Silver Birch Hotels & Resorts.
The Canadian Red Cross responds to local disasters by providing food, shelter, clothing, personal items, referrals, and often emotional support and/or guidance to families who may have nowhere to turn when a crisis forces them from their home. “Last year in Saskatchewan, Red Cross assisted 167 families who were affected by disasters such as house fires,” says Cindy Fuchs, Provincial Director, Canadian Red Cross. “We are pleased to be a recipient of the Friends in Need program and thank SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts and all the guests who check in, for their support. This program raised over $21,000.00 last year in support of Red Cross disaster response right here in Saskatchewan.”
Started in 1999, the Friends In Need program has distributed over $913,000 to charities across Canada. This year, the goal is to reach $1,000,000 in donations. The target for this year’s program is $86,000 to make this Silver Birch Hotels & Resorts’ one million dollar year.
“Our Friends In Need rates represent an amazing value,” says Rachel Koller, Senior Director, Sales and Marketing. “This promotion is truly a win-win for all involved. We’re supporting a very valuable service in our community, while providing visiting friends and family with an affordable place to stay over the holidays. In previous years, local residents have also taken advantage of the special rates, to take a holiday getaway right here at home.” Rates at the Regina Inn and Saskatoon Inn start at only $99 per night, while the Friends in Need rate at the Radisson Saskatoon starts at $129.
