Regina, the capital of Saskatchewan, was originally known as "Pile of
Bones" because of the large amounts of buffalo bones in the area. The city was renamed
Regina in 1882 in honour Queen Victoria, the British monarch at the time. Through farming,
a booming oil industry and expanding government services, Regina has grown considerably since
the early 1900s and boasts an array of attractions and activities for tourists or visitors.
Considering its immense natural beauty, it's no wonder Regina is known as the oasis on the
prairies.
